Evidence of Impact

Evidence of Impact: 'How can we tell it is working?'

As the number of schools undertaking the Thinking Schools journey increases, opportunities to research and evaluate are also developing. Through the Thinking Schools accreditation already undertaken, there is much anecdotal evidence demonstrating the benefits already outlined which is detailed in the evaluation reports of accredited Thinking Schools and also in Ofsted / Estyn inspection reports.

In addition to the anecdotal evidence, Dr Dave Walters has conducted a comprehensive national evaluation of impact which fully embraces the new accountability measures schools now face, including scaled scores, progress 8 and level 3 Value Added. The headlines relating to impact are outlined on the ‘Thinking Schools International’ website and can be accessed by following the link below:

The GPP Specifics

The GPP provides a clear 3 year development plan based on the 15 criteria used for accreditation as a ‘Thinking School’ and the 5 additional criteria used for accreditation as an ‘Advanced Thinking School’.

It then provides a professional development framework using ‘A’, ‘T’, ‘E’ as its structure. Teachers, Leaders and Support Staff will therefore receive support, guidance and instruction in the following 3 areas:

  • Assessment
  • Teaching
  • Evaluation
